First pop-up cards we designed back in 2007 were based on quite popular in advertising type of rubber powered pop-up advertising boxes, cubes etc.

Since the rubber bands have tendency to deteriorate over time, cards made with them not exactly are the product to put on a retail store shelf. Somehow every Christmas in past 3 years I got new idea how to improve the cards. The biggest problem was to make them work without rubber band. Quite challenging. The first idea was to use small diameter steel spring, But the minimum order for custom springs being quite large require substantial investment and is raising the cost.

Finally Christmas 2009 gave me the idea how to do the cards without the bands. Very simple method you are not going grasp looking just at the existing designs but working with physical paper and cutting endless number of paper sheets to find perfect solution It is offering several different technical solution in each one could be perfect base for whole new pop-up product line.

Cards shown are based on the basic trellis construction. If you like them half of the work is graphic design not their ( very simple) construction. Artwork from same hands applied to several other product stirs similar reaction. That's why we made our artwork / images available for licensing.

Cards are packed in clear 6x9" envelopes together with white mailing envelope and decorative cover protecting card, providing additional space for notes and wishes. The ready made design you can see on our web site are just part of  our current selection. In order to see more please contact us. We also develop custom made 3 Dimensional Cards. Length of time to design new piece takes from a day to about a week or longer depends of originality and number of artwork / images involved. Of course it can take longer if the concept is new, or we are already busy with other project. Quickest turnaround time is a week

My First Paper Structure was Paper Train made at age of 12 to enter School Competition. I won first award and teachers strongly encouraged me to enter between schools competition, but (like every artist) I liked my work so it remained in my possession.

Later on living few years in Prague, - Czech Republic  I was fascinated with old books I was buying in Antique Book Stores, especially late 19, early 20 century anatomy manuals with colorful cutouts of body organs. In city where 20 years ago you still could see on the streets plenty of untouched old cars produced even before First World War past time was present in many ways and life was flowing in the past, more lively than ever I experienced here in US.  Fascination with paper structures returned when I saw again in public library in Fort Lauderdale works of Vojtech Kubasta, Czech artist working in Prague long time ago. Renewed fascination forced me once again to work with paper engineering.
